La Paz Fútbol Club no supo encontrar la fórmula necesaria para superar a Oriente Petrolero, que a diferencia de otras ocasiones especuló y no buscó el arco contrario, por eso el punto para el equipo cruceño fue un regalo que lo mantiene invicto en el torneo Clausura, que entrega dos cupos a la Copa Libertadores de 2011 y uno para la Copa Sudamericana, también del próximo año.
A lo largo de los noventa minutos, por lo menos se presentaron cinco claras ocasiones de gol en el arco de los cruceños, en unas la falta de tranquilidad para anotar y en otras las buenas intervenciones del arquero José Carlo Fernández le privaron de poder saborear el triunfo a los locales.
En el primer tiempo, el colombiano Jarin Asprilla fue el eje ofensivo en el medio campo, que intentó vulnerar el arco de Hugo Suárez, que cerca de los 20 minutos tuvo que dejar su lugar por lesión a Fernández, que a medida que fueron pasando los minutos se fue constituyendo en la figura del encuentro.
Por el lado de Oriente, salvo la actuación de su arquero, no tuvo a una figura para destacar.
La Paz F.C. fue impetuoso, se olvidó de sus penurias económicas para llevarse por delante a su rival, que en contadas ocasiones intentó reaccionar. Los visitantes más se preocuparon de intentar aquietar el balón y de buscar mantenerlo alejado de la portería.
En el segundo tiempo, las cosas no cambiaron. En los primeros minutos, Ronald Segovia dio muestras de su peligrosidad, cuando a los 6 minutos recibió un buen pase de Asprilla y remató a las manos de Fernández. Tres minutos después, el mismo Segovia remató, y nuevamente el ‘Gato’ Fernández atinó a desviar el esférico. Parecía que los locales iban a abrir la cuenta en cualquier momento, mientras Oriente sólo buscaba el arco contrario a través del contragolpe que no tuvo buen resultado y el duelo terminó sin goles.

Ocurrente y provocativo como siempre, el loro, la mascota de Oriente, intentó ‘calentar’ el clásico del domingo ingresando a la cancha del Tahuichi con una pancarta. En ella hacía referencia a cuando Blooming jugó en la Primera A en 1996, tras su descenso de la Liga en 1995.
Los jugadores de Oriente Petrolero fueron objeto de un espectacular recibimiento, el martes, previo al partido por la Copa Sudamericana frente al Tolima. Una de las curvas se tiñó completamente de verde cuando el equipo albiverde saltó a la cancha.
Durante dos años 1994/95 Oriente Petrolero mantuvo un invicto insuperable durante 12 partidos con 9 victorias y 3 empates.
